Testimonials
We
are happy to share success stories from students, faculty and staff
members who have been involved in the VILOS project. These
testimonials demonstrate the versatility and adaptability of VILOS to the needs
of all students.
- "VILOS
are nice to have at home for reviewing purposes. It make it easier to
connect to the proper procedure versus the book and memory from the
class." Kim, student
- "The VILOS
helped me a lot to refresh my memory on procedures that we did in
class. It reminded me of what I keep missing and helped me
understand to do better because I can go back as many times as I need
and look at the procedures. I loved being part of the taping
too." Kari, student
- "I have really benefited from the VILOS
productions that Patty Ley has produced about laboratory procedures we
are learning this semester. In order to remember the steps
needed
to produce quality results, I am able to view these short segments on
my computer at home. I am a person who needs visuals to
learn."
Cheryl, student
- "The VILOS
Patty Ley made were extremely helpful to me in reviewing procedures for
a number of laboratory tasks. They were a great
memory jog
for the Final studying I was doing. For me, it is definitely
better to see the procedure instead of just reading from a
book.
Great for visual learners!" Shannon, student
- "I thought the VILOS
were great! They really helped for studying and learning
purposes. They were a great review for the Final!" Laura,
student
- "The VILOS
were very informative for me. I was able to review them for
tests. They show step-by-step information on the
procedures. They are a great help and very easy to
follow.
I have used them for more than just one class." Jill, student
- "I
see where we could use technology like this to augment almost any class
in the School of Health Care. I can see the use with students who are
struggling and need to repeat a procedure or to visualize how a
procedure was done if they missed a class." Denise Jordan RN, Nursing
Instructor
- "I believe the VILOS
are a great learning tool and an asset to the class. They help you
especially in testing. So whatever VILOS are given to you,use them
because they do help." Celetta, student
- "The VILOS
are great especially when you view them before going to class so you
know what to expect. They are very helpful in your check offs so use
them often and use them wisely." Laura, student
- "The immediacy of the availability found in 24/7 streaming
video VILOS
will be a huge asset to students and faculty alike. We live in a world
of impatience and immediacy. We have the potential meet student and
faculty needs continually through use of a streaming VILOS." Jewel
Diller, Nursing Program Chair
- "In
addition to having ready reference videos of nursing procedures, the
streaming video can alsoadd to the continuity of the nursing programs.
When the faculty in thelab, in the classroom and in the clinical area
all have access to the same procedure set, the students will also be
consistent in the lab, classroom and clinical areas when performing
procedures." Jewel Diller, Nursing Program Chair
- "I like the fact that we can watch the VILOS
at our leisure and be able to go back and rewind and pause them. They
have been a wonderful instructional tool." Amanda, student
- "I
see where we could use technology like this to augment almost any class
in the School of Health Care. I can see the use with students who are
struggling and need to repeat a procedure or to visualize how a
procedure was done if they missed a class." Denise Jordan RN, Nursing
Instructor
- "The accrediting body, CAAHEP-AAMA
requires continued practice of the skill until the mastered and this
does not always happen in scheduled class time. Additionally, funds are
not available for open lab time and additional lab resources, which was
identified by NCA as an area the college needed to improve on. This
plan will allow the MEA program and the college to address this student
need through a “virtual” open lab concept." Tova Green, Medical
Assisting Program Chair
- "The VILOS give the student the opportunity to prepare for class, look at them during class and after we do the procedure, they are able to take the videos home to review the procedures for their Skills Check-offs." Dave Martin, CMA, Medical Assisting Instructor
We would like to thank our students for their active participation, enthusiasm, and on-going feedback. We couldn't have done it without them!
